2016 CAPiTA Defenders of Awesome Snowboard

$419.95

The 2016 CAPiTA Defenders of Awesome snowboard is awesomely versatile. It holds up to park laps, tree runs, and even an occasional pow run. It might be marketed as a Freeride snowboard, but it’s definitely more of an all mtn/freestyle deck.

With positive camber between the inserts, the CAPiTA Defenders of Awesome also makes use of a flat zone that transitions to a tiny rocker zone as you get to the tips. When pressure is applied the flat zone kicks up and the rocker zones at the contact points lift even more. (This helped for the occasional pow turn, seeing as we tested a 150cm.)

The Tarantino/70s/sexploitation-inspired graphics don’t hurt the eyes either. (Technically we don’t rate on reputation, graphics, or durability.)

The WAH-POW! flat kick tips make for stable butters and presses, but we had to work to get them very high because the board is medium stiff. That stiffness, however, does translate into great jumps. Plus it’s pretty light so spinning feels easy.

Bottom line, we suggest this to the rider who is intermediate or above and has to deal with variable conditions. If you’re looking for that all mountain snowboard that can handle any terrain and still throw down in the park, the 2016 CAPiTA Defenders of Awesome should get high consideration.

2015 Capita Defenders of Awesome Snowboard Review Preview Video:
Heads up this is the 2015 review preview not the 2016. We thought it was relevant, so here you go.

From CAPiTA Snowboards:
The Defenders of Awesome series has a big reputation and these boards back it up. And when we say they back it up, we mean they back to back to back it up. As winners of the most coveted design award in snowboarding four years in a row, this highly sought after series now has a Transworld Good Wood 4-peat. It’s one of the best in the game and has the accolades to prove it. The DOA features a next-generation hybrid camber design, which delivers the pop and response of a camber board with the predictability of reverse camber. This truly is the go anywhere, do anything freestyle deck. For 2015, we have added an all new DS Select RFC Sustainable Dual Core and Fortress™ Kevlar Bound Sidewalls for bomb-proof construction.
