What is Triple Base Technology (TBT)?

Bataleon's Triple Base Technology (TBT) gives each board the equivalent of 3 bases. One through the center of the length of the board, a second base for the length of the right side and thrid base along the length of the left side. The center base is for going straight and the right and left bases are for turning on their respective edges. Made to reflect the natural form and torsion of a board in motion, the TBT creates a spoon-like shape.

From Bataleon:

TRIPLE BASE NOSE

The Triple Base starts in thebinding area where the board is flat, and increases progressivelytowards the nose. Lifted edges mean more edge grip when you need it andless catchy edges when you don't want it! Other technologies mightclaim this, but no one has a Triple Base starting under the bindings, and therefore nothing will work as good as Triple Base. Graduallylifting the edges towards the widest point of the board offers a worldof benefits: Less edge catch, better float in powder, more forgivenessin landings, smoother turn initiation, less chatter in turns. Becausethe increase is gradual and each of the 3 different base areas arestraight and not rounded, you can still stone grind this area of theboard.

POSITIVE CAMBER

Lately a lot of bold claims have been made about reversed camber. Sureit can be fun, but we don't agree on this being a good solution formost conditions. Boards need Camber because it allows you to controlthe radius of your turns with great precision both for big and smallturns. Camber helps a lot when you want to have that snappy edge toedge. And last but certainly not least, Camber helps you cushionlandings on big airs - it gives you more support. If you want to have amore fun board that still rides well in all terrain, you better lookfor more advanced features than reversed camber.
When you land with the board flat, our lifted edges at the widest parts(nose and tail) bring the control to the centre of the board betweenyour legs right where it's easy to control. You may ask: Why not haveTriple Base all the way? Because you want some edge control goingstraight, and therefore we let the almost parallel parts of the steeledges between the bindings touch the snow when you flatten the board.Triple Base also in the middle would mean a board that would be withoutedge contact when you flatten it.

CONCAVE TAIL

Of course the benefits of theTriple Base towards the nose go for the triple base towards the tail. Therefore, on all our twins and freestyle boards the Triple Base shapetowards nose and tail are the same. Our freeride shape have a taperedtail and a longer triple base section towards the nose. Because of thelifted edges, TBT boards are so easy to switch around. The Triple Baseshape in combination with the specially adapted TBT torsion patternsgives Triple Base boards their amazing pop. Our snowboards pop likeskateboards on fresh concrete.
